10 Blessings of The Recession

Blessings of the Recession?!Some believe those two words don't actually belong in the same sentence. Well I beg to differ. Below is a list a little blessings and new appreciations that have been made possible by the recession:

10. The library - It is FREE and full of information.

9. Red Box - You can't beat $1 per night for movie night which really equals some quality time with the ones I love.

8. Coupons - Since money has been tight, I truly value all kinds of coupons. Especially when I go to the supermarket and I have saved $26 on my bill for the week. (Yippee!!)

7. Public Transportation - It isn't so bad after all. It has several purposes, it's cheap for a days travel all over the city, free exercise due to the increase of walking, and it has some of the best 'entertainment' I have every seen LOL.

6.  Research - All hail the research queen! When my family needs something, I'm gonna search and search (and search again) for the most economical way to get what we need.

5. Creativity - This was the perfect time for me to get creative. Whether to start a garden to cut food cost, hem my own pants, or hit the craft stores for ways to add extra income, my creative juices began to flow.

4. Business Opportunities - This is one of my favorites. Because of the instability with the job market, I began to take charge and become my own boss!

3. The B Word: Budgets - I have truly learned the meaning of the B word. I am way more conscious of how I spend my hard earned pennies. And if it's not in the 'budget' it doesn't get done.

2. Being Inspired - During this time, I have been more focused on a deeper relationship with my family and God, which are my inspirations.

1. Most importantly, FAMILY - time with them is more valuable than any dollar I could spend!
