The venue was a warehouse that was transformed to accommodate vendors along with a full fashion and hair show upstairs, not to mention it was FREE. When we first walked in there were vendors set up on each side selling all kinds of items such as homemade leather purses, jewelry, and scarves. Then we stepped into the main room with vendors selling mostly hair and/or skin products. The only down side was the venue was small, so they only had about 25 vendors between the first area and the main showroom. The crowd seemed to be small which allowed me to meet a lot of vendors and talk to them at length due to the 'quaint-ness' of the venue. After we purchased tickets for the fashion show ($25 each) my hubby and I went out to have lunch although there were no food vendors set up yet. Then we made our way back in time for the fashion show.
Now here comes the fun part! The fashion show was scheduled to start at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm. At 3:30pm the doors were not open yet for guest to go upstairs to be seated for the show. The doors finally opened at about 3:45pm. Then a lady with a straight face, no smiles put her hand out, we handed her the tickets, and she pointed and said 'upstairs'. We went upstairs and sat about 4 rows from the front. As I glanced around the room, I noticed a guy pulling out a ladder to fix lights and sound on the runway. I see a ton of models made up and ready, just walking around like the audience was not in the room. As I watch closer, the models are roaming because there is no backstage. A fashion show with no backstage?...... #wheretheydothatat! Anyway, I checked the time.... it's 4:30pm. A guy then gets on the mic and says, "We're running a little behind, we are experiencing some technical difficulties". Really? You think?!...
Anyway, about 15 minutes past and the show starts, at least I thought. The host of the night is Rev. Malika (sorry didn't catch her last name). I've never seen a Revered like her before, she was hilarious!! You would have to be there to understand. Then there were 3 opening acts. At 5:30pm...... finally the real show starts!
There were 6 designers that participated (in order of appearance):
1. Locs N Chops - The hair and concept was wonderful! They were giving it up for the curvy sisters! Only problem: the concept was poorly delivered. Music was off and models were blah.
2. Melissa Harvey - She started it off with the cutest little kids. And I liked their presentation, it was a nice, clean show.
3. Derrick Scurry - Haut, Haut, Haut! It was very editorial and theatrical. The music was on point, they had real models, it was a very cohesive show. Basically, the show was perfect!
4. Tarbaby Hair Designs - This show started off slow. It picked up a little at the end, just wished it was more interesting.
5. Soca Sol & Style - Loved It! They did the Caribbean carnival theme with stilt walkers and all! It was colorful, hair was beautiful, models were entertaining. Loved it!!
6. Kafela - Now this is what you call a finale! Hot damn is all I can say!! That picture that at the top says it all.

Nice! I attended on Saturday and was able to check out alot of vendors. I didn't make it to the show on Sunday but from your post it sounds like it was entertaining from all aspects. I did a review as well, check it out if you like at: http://sassncurlz.com/2010/10/25/transcendence-natural-hair-show-recap/
