Long Loc braid do'

Long Loc Styling

My wonderful client came to me this idea. As you can see it is cornrowed in the front and then all of the cornrows are fish braided down the back. The end of the large fish braid is secured with a few knotted locs.

Masterpiece Complete!

TWIST & SHOUT - Step by Step guide to the twist out

TWIST & SHOUT!!

The infamous twist-out! Now this is how you texturize a 'Fro! A quick and easy method to the twist out.
Dry Twist Out

  1. Shampoo and condition hair.

  2. Make love to your scalp by applying Olive oil to the scalp while still damp. Click here for Top 10 uses of olive oil.

  3. Blow dry hair.

  4. Make large double strand twist all over the head using a cocktail of Jane Carter Twist & Lock and Barry Fletcher's Loc N Set Serum.

  5. Flexi-Rod the ends with medium sized flexi-rods using Jane Carter Wrap N Roll Foam.   * If you don't have flexi-rods, you could pin curl the ends and secure with clips or bobbi pins*

  6. Sit under hooded dryer until completely dry. (If you are anything like my naturally wonderful client/model you could do steps 1-5 before bed. Skip step 6, and finish with steps 7- in the morning.

  7. Once dry, undo the flexi-rods & twist using a little bit of softened shea butter or a pomade, such as AVEDA Humectant Pomade on your hands for added shine and moisture.

  8. Enjoy Your Natural Wonder!!!
Tips: Use a satin bonnet at night to trap moisture and help prevent curls from getting ultimate frizz. In morning to 're-activate' curls use a light spritzer (2 parts distilled water, 1 part olive oil, few drops of favorite essential oil) and separate curls with Jane Carter Twist & Lock or Olive Oil.
