*PRODUCT REVIEW* Khemistry Naturaw Body Kare

About a week ago I tried Khemistry Naturaw Body Kare by Dr. Kanika Jamila, self proclaimed "Hood Doctor." I met her at the Transcendence Natural Hair Show in Brooklyn. She was very nice, and didn't hesitate to give me a nice sampler pack of the goodies to try.

Below is my fav of the samples:

Liquid Gold Black Soap with Tea Tree: I loved this soap. I used it to shampoo a few of my clients hair as a cleansing/clarifying shampoo. It cleansed away dirt and grim but still had these ultra moisturizing, creamy bubbles. It's a great 1st lather cleanser. It left the hair squeaky clean. I would recommend you still follow up with another moisturizing shampoo as the black soap doesn't have enough moisturizing agents in it. Overall, GREAT product. It's so good, I might have to update my favorite product list with this cleanser!

*PRODUCT REVIEW* Hair Rules Kinky Curling Creme

I was really curious about Hair Rules and I'd been dying to try the Curling Creme for the longest time. I finally tried it about a week ago. For folks who go by the hair texture classification, I would say I am a 4a hair type.

So here is what I like about the Curling Creme: 1) It's a cream. Compared to my beloved Kinky Curling Curling Custard, it was much easier to apply. It was a faster and, I'd say, a less messy application process because it's not gooey and gloppy. 2) It did decrease shrinkage. My hair had hang time. Not as much as I thought it would but I could feel my hair on my ears and with my shrinkage, that's something to write home about.

Now, here is what I don't like about the product: 1) Goodness, that stuff sat on my hair. It took forever for the cream to disappear and that really annoyed me because I was on my way to a party. 2) While the application process was quick, the drying process took an eternity. Even after sitting under the dryer for 20 minutes, my hair was wet almost an hour later. 3) It requires sitting under a dryer/heat application- which I try to avoid- in order to set the hair. 4) My "next day" hair was shrunken and slightly bird's-nesty in look. Nothing a little water spritzing couldn't handle but it did make me think the product is designed for daily use, which, considering the drying process, I'm not sure I'm down for, and 5) My hair felt like it was dry, or at least it felt like it had a coating on it, which I didn't really care for.

So, it's not a favorite but I'm not completely ruling it out just yet. I think I need one more try before I make a final decision to 86 it from my hair routine.

*PRODUCT REVIEW* Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control

I am a big fan of Design Essentials. I have been a fan for over 10 years so I was anxious to try the new naturals line. First product up for review is the SLEEK EDGE CONTROL.

The Pros: It has a thick gel like consistency. Similar to Joie MyGel or QP Glaze. It lays edge right in place. I like it a lot. It does exactly what it is suppose to do. And it shampoos out nice and clean. And the price point is decent at around $8.00 for 2oz.

The Cons: Only thing I don't like about it is when I compare it to to my ultimate favorite edge product, Joie MyGel, MyGel is a way better value. Meaning you get way more product for your buck. So for me as a stylist, I want maximum performance at the most economical price and MyGel wins. Which is around $8 for 4 oz online (double the amount of product)!

Overall: I give it 4 out of 5 combs.

So the Lavender smells AMAZING! It's so clean. No artificial crap. And I loved the smell when lathered in in my clients hair. It cleanses well but defiantly not moisturizing. So I wouldn't recommend it for clients who have excessively dry scalp and hair. It's perfect for those who use quite a bit of products or who have oily hair and scalp.

Overall, it's not the best shampoo I have tried but it's defiantly not the worse. I would purchase this again because it's great at cleansing and the smell is wonderful!
