Your favorite Natural Hair You Tube-rs are going at it. Here is the original video post from African Export. And this video has snowballed out of control with the responses. Below is one of the responses from another popular YouTubers Taren916.

My personal opinion, the natural hair community uses YouTube and Blogs as a way to connect and share with others that share a common interest. Bloggers and YouTube movie makers have used the platform as a springboard for other businesses and popularity. In the video, it's suggested that certain Vloggers integrity has changed once they have gained popularity.

And this is true. Their is a certain Vlogger I would occasionally check into and once they gained all this national recognition, the focus of the videos are now to sell me their new product. Not to mention, the 'product' they are selling is not much different than what I could purchase at a Walgreen's or Rite Aid. Needless to say, I'm not impressed. But, I don't knock the hustle. And at the end of the day, you gotta have a hustle!

I also want to cover these Vloggers that give themselves titles such as Natural Guru or Hair Guru, etc. That kinda gets under my skin. I've been in the beauty business for over 12 years as a hair stylist and makeup artist. I have serviced naturals, relaxers, color, braids, weaves, cuts, makeup counters, and everything in between. Some of the YouTube Vloggers are calling themselves 'Guru'. Now if your only dealings with beauty is yourself and giving advice to others on your personally experiences, does that make you a 'Guru'. I'm just saying....

And what's really interesting is the natural community is always pictured being a group of big haired women, sitting in a circle, holding hands, singing Kumbaya. It's kinda sad that a community that is so trend setting, dynamic, and innovative has come to this.

OYIN HANDMADE!

So I was browsing YouTube and came across these hilarious videos. Oyin Handmade is a local (Baltimore, MD) hair and body product line. Oyin is Yaruba for Honey. So most of the products contain honey a natural and wonderful humectant. I have not tried the products yet (on my list of things to do ASAP). However, I have heard wonderful things about the brand. Can't wait to visit their flagship store in Baltimore. CHECK THE PODCAST BELOW!
